Arm In Arm is excited to be partnering and collaborating with Hamilton Township’s Department of Community and Economic Development to assist qualifying Hamilton Township residents with utility, rent or mortgage payments. Hamilton Township has secured a federal CARES Community Development Block Grant of $680,000 and, because of their collaborative history with Arm In Arm, sought AIA’s assistance in distributing the funding.
Cynthia Mendez, Arm In Arm’s Director of Housing Stability and Homeless Prevention, sees this as a great opportunity to help even more neighbors in need, “The health crisis has really had an incredible impact on our Mercer County residents and we are seeing people fall further behind than ever before. We have a history with Hamilton Township in helping residents establish a path to sustainability and are thrilled to be able to partner with them on this, very timely and important initiative. People are hurting, and these funds will allow us to provide people with real hope for the future.”
The residential portion of the Mortgage & Rental Relief Program will allow for rental, mortgage or utility assistance to low and moderate income households that have had a substantial reduction in income or became unemployed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The emergency rental or mortgage assistance grant has a cap of $10,000 throughout a period of six months. All approved applicants will be reviewed at the three-month interval to see if they are still in need of assistance
