Summer Hunger Relief Campaign

Summer Hunger Relief Campaign: "School's Out, Hungers Out —You Can Help!"

When school lets out, hunger sets in. Thousands of children in our community lose access to reliable meals provided through school breakfast and lunch programs. This summer, you can help fill the gap.
Join Arm In Arm this summer to make sure no child goes hungry when school is out.
We’re calling on our compassionate community to help stock our shelves with kid-friendly, nutritious staples like:
  • 🥣 Low-sugar cereals
  • 🥜 Peanut butter
  • 🍝 Pasta
  • 🥛 Shelf-stable milk
  • 🍚 Rice
These items go a long way toward building meals that are easy to prepare, filling, and nourishing for growing bodies.

Why It Matters

During the school year, many families rely on free or reduced-price school meals to keep their children nourished. But when summer break hits, those two meals per day disappear — and food insecurity spikes.

Locally, an estimated 22% of children under 18 in Mercer County are food insecure—that’s one in five kids living with uncertainty about consistent access to food (WFMJ, 2025).

Without the structure of the school day, these children are at greater risk of going hungry.

You can be the reason a child has a full plate this summer. Together, we can close the summer meal gap and ensure no child in our community is left behind.
